The Bellevue School District offers students opportunities to extend their learning through extracurricular and after school activity programs. It is the District’s intention to provide high quality opportunities for student participation in extracurricular and after school activity programs. 

AASU (Asian American Student Union) Fri - every other (3:35) Library S Wong (wongs@bsd405.org) Asian American Student Union (AASU) is a safe space to explore all things related to Asian American identity! Join us for discussions on a varying range of topics from lighthearted daily occurrences and culture to deeper topics. Also come to play games, enjoy snacks, make friends, and have fun! This club is open to all students!
ACS Chemistry Club Tuesday (every other) 3:35 3115 S Nehring (nehrings@bsd405.org) ACS Chemistry Club is a high school chemistry club that provides students with a unique opportunity to experience chemistry beyond the classroom. Our goal is to build a strong community united by a shared love for chemistry and science. We will meet every other week on Tuesdays from 3:35pm-4:00pm to engage in a variety of chemistry related activities such as experiments, demonstrations, presentations, and providing a welcoming environment to study chemistry. We encourage students who are looking for support in chemistry, want to develop their experimental skills, or have any interest in the subject to join our club!
AI Club Thursday (3:35) 3104 J Brown (brownje@bsd405.org) We host meetings where we discuss different forms and uses of AI. Additionally, we host educational workshops and collaborative projects regarding AI with the help of mentors, guest speakers and fun activities!
Archaeology Club Tues - every other (3:40 - 4:15)  2109 L Falkenhagen (falkenhagenl@bsd405.org) Archaeology Club provides a welcoming space for any students interested in archaeology, anthropology, paleontology, or just history in general. Join us to learn more about pathways in archaeology, famous archaeological sites, and more! Everyone is welcome and no prior knowledge about archaeology is needed. 
ARK Club Tues - every other (3:40 - 4:15)  library L Stewart (stewartl@bsd405.org) Spread kindness around the school to boost morals for everyone through small, thoughtful actions. Along with adding positive messages around the school for people to read. We want to dedicate ourselves to making Newport a more positive environment not only by spreading it but by educating people on how to solve social problems.

ASL Club Wed (12:45 - 1:15) 2606 K Boschker (boschkerk@bsd405.org) In ASL club, we teach beginners and experienced signers a variety of American Sign Language signs and grammar as well as deaf culture and awareness. Join us for fun games and a great community to learn and practice ASL no matter your starting knowledge.

Join us for fun discussions, activities, and a motivated community that shares a passion for astronomy and all things space related!
Badminton Club Mon (7 am - 8 am) main gym F Nimmo (nimmof@bsd405.org)  Badminton Club is an inclusive space where badminton enthusiasts can participate in tournaments, play casually, and hang out, no matter their identity, background, or skill level. Learn badminton fundamentals from experienced peers while enjoying fun moments of physical exercise!
Biology Club Fri (3:30) 2121 G Anchondo (anchondoa@bsd405.org) Biology club is a place for curious individuals to explore the field of biology and learn about intriguing topics while preparing for the optional Biology Olympiad. We often do fun hands-on labs and have short lectures. The club will also occasionally have opportunities for members to go on field trips and listen to guest speakers talk about their personal experiences. We also regularly offer snacks! The club is open to people of all experiences, so make sure to check us out!
Bird Club Monday - every other (3:35) 2113 B Swann (swanne@bsd405.org) Do you like birds? Do you ever see a bird singing, flying, or eating and wonder what species it is? Well then Bird Club is for you! No experience necessary and binoculars are provided. Bird club is the best place to learn a cool skill and meet an awesome community!

The Black Student Union is a club that serves as an affinity group where people who identify as racially black or people who are interested in black culture can learn more about black experience and culture. This can help reduce the stigma around talking about race as well as create a closer black community at Newport.
Calligraphy Club Fri - every other (3:35)   M Soetrisno (soetrisnom@bsd405.org) In Calligraphy Club, we do art projects that involve calligraphy like designing posters for school events, clubs, finals, and AP season. Members explore different calligraphy styles and techniques, improving their lettering skills. Join us to enhance your creativity and contribute to our school community!
Chess Club Thurs (3:30 - 4:30) 1103 C Lamb (lambc@bsd405.org) Chess club is a fun club that allows people to socialize and play chess recreationally or competitively. You can play casually with friends, or if you're interested in competition you could play against other schools in the KingCo League. We have a wide range fo players from all different levels, so anyone is free to come!
Chinese Chess Club Fri -every other (3:40 - 4:30) 3109 L Chen (chenl@bsd405.org) A recreational, loosely structured club that allows students from every age to socialize and play Chinese Chess with each other.  We will introduce the basic rules of Chinese Chess, provide a platform to play with friends, and sometimes hold small contests.
Chinese Culture Club Mon (3:40 - 4:15) 2106 M Chuang-Mendel (chuangm@bsd405.org) We hope to help our community learn about Chinese culture, teach each other about cultural diversity, and help welcome new immigrants.

Cover and Choreography Thurs (3:30 - 4:30) Weight Room L Falkenhagen (falkenhagenl@bsd405.org) Cover & Choreography (C&C) is an inclusive dance club for all experience levels that perform hip-hop, K-pop, and other styles at different school-wide events! We perform at many of Newport’s assemblies & events, including Winterfest Assembly, FKL, Multicultural Night, & Senior Farewell Assembly. We also do many outside events such as Tyee dances, K-Play Fest, and many more! We welcome dancers of all levels to join, and have a fun experience performing! 
Cross Disability Solidarity Monday (3:30) 2124 C Drawe (drawec@bsd405.org) A club focused on education, engagement and entertainment on topics of the disability justice principles and disability representation. 
Cybersecurity Club Tues (3:30 - 4:30) 2121 G Anchondo (anchondoa@bsd405.org) A club for students interested in computer science and cybersecurity. We participate in capture the flag competitions in order to learn valuable real-world cybersecurity skills, while also covering various cybersecurity content along the way!
Days for Girls Tues - every other (3:30 - 4:00) 1102 R Eastman (eastmanr@bsd405.org) We raise awareness about menstrual health and period poverty around the world and within our community. We increase access to menstrual care and education by innovating sustainable solutions that shatter stigma and limitations for women and girls. Everyone is welcome!
DECA Wed (1:00 - 2:00) 1201 or Lecture Hall J Borth (borthj@bsd405.org) DECA is a Student Leadership Organization whose mission is to prepare emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management. DECA's core values and attributes are competence, innovation, integrity, and teamwork. We actively participate in competitions, community service projects, fundraising, and recreational activities.

Drama Thurs (3:35 - 4:30) 1207 J Nonis and C Kaskes (nonisj@bsd405.org) Newport Drama aspires to foster a theatre community that values artistic growth, quality productions, and effective communication through mentorship, positivity, and total support. We offer many in-class and out-of-class opportunities to participate in theater, including semester productions, student-directed one acts, FKL sketch comedy, improv training, and weekly club meetings. Club members can also participate in a regional individual events festival and attend the State Thespian Festival. Students can also receive a varsity letter in Drama each year and become an inducted member of the International Thespian Society. 
Dungeons and Dragons Club Wednesday (12:50) 2112 M Baker (bakerm@bsd405.org) A club for people to join and play Dungeons and Dragons (or other tabletop roleplay games)! All experience is welcome, and we can help you learn to play!
Eco Club Thursday (3:35) 3108 J Doran (doranj@bsd405.org) Eco Club is a place for students to meet and do fun and sustainable DIY projects, learn more about the environment, and plan eco-friendly events for our school. 
Entomology Club Thurs - every other (3:35) 3115 D Calinog (calinogd@bsd405.org) Entomology club is fun organization where students can learn about and examine various insects’ anatomy and behaviors. With 75% of all described animal species being insects, the study of them is a very large, important, and extremely diverse field! In this club, we learn about insects' role in agricultural systems, diseases, and ecosystems as well as the various fields of entomology such as agricultural, medical, and forensic!
Fashion for Good Mon (3:30 - 4:30) 2118 J Sawyer (sawyerj@bsd405.org) A club for those who are interested in fashion. We will work on projects that involve sewing, painting, designing on recycled clothes/fabrics and donate these products to different charity/non-profits/children’s home, etc. There will be many more collaborative fashion projects and events. People of all skill levels are welcome.

French Culture Club is a super easy, fun, and stress-free club that is available to everyone, even if you don't speak French. You can look forward to learning about French language, culture, geography, and so many more topics.
GSA (Gender Sexuality Alliance) Thurs (3:30 - 4:30) 3119 M Feder (federm@bsd405.org) GSA is a safe space for students (queer or not) to socialize, do fun activities, and learn about queer culture. 
HOSA Thurs (3:40) 3114 K Bohlinger and D Calinog (bohlingerk@bsd405.org, calinogd@bsd405.org) HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) helps develop leadership and technical medical competency through guest speakers, club activities, and competition to prepare students to become future health professionals.
Investment Club Monday (4:00) 1109 H Tate (tateh@bsd405.org) Investment Club strives to facilitate discussion about investment and finance and become a launchpad for students to become more financially independent and build investment portfolios. 
JSU Mon (3:30) 2613 A Florsheim (florsheima@bsd405.org) JSU fosters an environment where students can uncover their individual and meaningful ties to Judaism. Through engaging, educational, and uplifting experiences, JSU empowers teenagers to freely delve into the richness of their Jewish Identity. Additionally, teens cultivate affection, solidarity, and comprehension for others in their community. 
Knight Pics Tuesday (3:30) 1604 A Foti (fotia@bsd405.org) Knight Pics is a club for anyone interested in photography – no experience is necessary. We explore several genres of photography such as portraiture, still life, landscapes, and any other genre members are interested in. Cameras are available for use, and we will teach you how to use them properly as well as skillfully. If you are interested in submitting for photography competitions, this club is a great place to receive feedback on your photos as well as information regarding both the competitions available and the submission processes. Also, we occasionally collaborate with other clubs to photograph events they host. Joining this club is an accessible way to gain real-world photography experience.
Knights Who Care  Mon (3:35) 1104 K Hauser (hauserk@bsd405.org) A club that offers students a way of giving back to the community through projects fundraisers and donation drives 
Knights Who Code Mon (3:35) 1404 J Walker (walkerj@bsd405.org) Knights Who Code, partnered with international organization Girls Who Code, aims to introduce Java and other coding languages in a less intimidating environment. Not only do we focus on algorithms and objects, but we also prioritize the strategical thinking process before tackling a problem. We also lead projects and help prepare students for other coding activities like hackathons. Everyone is welcome regardless of gender identity and the primary work we do is focused on closing the gender gap in technology. No experience is required to join!
Math Club Mon (3:30 - 4:30) 3109 L Chen (chenli@bsd405.org) Math Club is a space for everyone to have fun learning the art of mathematics. We talk about a range of topics, from applied mathematics to competition math and beyond. Math Club participates in multiple competitions each year, notably AMC10/12 and AIME. In addition, we host the annual Knights of Pi Math Tournament, a regional math tournament for middle schoolers. Students who need help with math homework/concepts may also come for additional support.
Mindfulness and Meditation Monday (3:30 3111 M Gray (graym@bsd405.org) Mindfulness and Meditation Club with the main goal of relieving stress and connecting one with the soul.  Mindfulness and Meditation Club is for everyone no matter what their experience with meditation is.  In meetings we participate in a group meditation with varying techniques.
Model UN Tues (3:35) 2105 K Webb (webbe@bsd405.org) Model United Nations simulates the United Nations regarding global current events and international relations.  Our club attends four conferences apart of the larger MUN Northwest organization.  Our club through these conferences provide students with the opportunity to participate in international politics, learn more about current events, exercise speaking skills, and collaborate and cooperate with students across the Northwest and Canada.  Our club trains, prepares, and aids students to participate in these competitions and helps prepare them to staff the competitions, which is an opportunity to be apart of the organization, staff and help administer major competitions, and gain volunteer hours.
Multiracial Student Union Fri - every other (3:35) 2611 S Floro (floros@bsd405.org) Multi-Racial Student Union strives to create a comfortable space where biracial/multiracial students can come together and talk about challenges that they face belonging to 2 or more different cultures and feeling like they don’t belong in either one. Many multiracial students can connect with not feeling a sense of community at school. By identifying our commonalities as multi-race students we hope to expand the inclusivity at Newport by allowing students to have an outlet for self-exploration and going beyond just being labeled as “other”.​
Music 4 Everyone Club Mon (3:35) 1225 B Blough (bloughb@bsd405.org) Music 4 Everyone is a club where all musicians can freely explore their interest in music without limitations on repertoire, create wonderful ensembles with other people, and perform for a good cause. At the end of each quarter, club members are expected to submit a recording to club officers to send to Sunrise Senior Center (and possibly perform at Harborview Medical Center for Christmas!) in return for volunteer hours. We also provide a chance for members to practice performing for the Solo & Ensemble Festival in January. As recording deadlines are relatively spread out, M4E is a club that centers more around enjoyment and strives to be a community made up of students who have a passion for music, whether it’s classical, pop, jazz, R&B, and more. Students who are part of band, orchestra and choir are strongly encouraged to join!
Music Creators Club Tues (3:30) 1602 B Blough (bloughb@bsd405.org) This is a space for students of any skill level interested in music to gather once a week to create, analyze, and discuss music, participate in musical activities, and share out their creations. This can be a perfect opportunity to start creating music for the first time, to get feedback on your work, or to have a source of motivation to create new music. 
National Honor Society Wednesday (1:00) Main Gym D Calinog (calinogd@bsd405.org) The National Honor Society (NHS) is an organization that recognizes outstanding high school students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. NHS aims to create enthusiasm for scholarship, stimulate a desire to render service, promote leadership, and develop character in students. We strive to build a community of well-rounded individuals who are committed to making a positive impact both within our school and in the broader community.
Neuroscience Tues (3:40 - 4:30) 3115 D Calinog (calinogd@bsd405.org) Learn about the brain and the nervous system through fun experiments and games. You can also learn about the medical field in general because of all the guest speakers that we get. No experience is needed.
New Gen Club Thurs (3:40) 1610 M Faulk (faulkm@bsd405.org) New Gen is a casual Christian fellowship club where students can come to play games, make new friends, eat snacks, worship, and grow in their love of Christ and others. All are welcome!
Newport Bakes Mon - every other (3:30 - 4:45) 1401 T Green (greent@bsd405.org) A safe space were students can learn different recipes and baking techniques to feel more confident in their skills in the kitchen 
Newport Knives TBD TBD T Green (greent@bsd405.org) A Culinary Arts and Advanced Culinary Arts competition team, only open to Culinary Arts and Advanced Culinary Arts students. 
NRG Robotics Tues and Thurs (6pm - 8pm) ESC West R. Doran (doranr@bsd405.org) NRG 948 is a First Robotics Competition (FRC) team operating under the FIRST Robotics Organization. No prior experience is needed to join the team! We train students in their chosen subgroup in the fall (Business, Marketing, Mechanical, CAD, Electrical Systems, or Programming) before we transition to building a robot for the competitive season spanning from January to March. There are plenty of opportunities for you to gain valuable STEM experience and career skills on our team. Furthermore, if you are not as technically inclined, we also have other opportunities to get involved, such as writing grants, designing merch, and networking with companies. 
Ocean Science Club Tues (3:30) 3111 M Gray (graym@bsd405.org) Ocean Science Club at NHS is a great place to make new friends, learn all about the oceans, and join a great team. We are a strong competitive team that has made it to the National Level of National Ocean Sciences Bowl Competition multiple times. In addition to our competitive prowess, we also like to have fun and share with each other our passion for the ocean and all things living in it! This year, we look forward to hosting fundraisers, doing labs, and many more fun activities! All are welcome regardless of experience, so be sure to come check us out!

Philosophy Club Tuesday (every other) 3:35 1114 E Bosone (bosonee@bsd405.org) Philosophy Club is a space for both philosophical enthusiasts, intellectual thinkers, and eager learners to come together. We investigate the foundational schools of philosophical thought, learn about the scopes and limits of our individual beliefs about the world, and identify where philosophy plays out in real life and current day events. Join us to deliberate, discuss, and devour (both ideas and snacks)! 
Programming Club Thurs (3:40 - 4:30) 1613 M Yang (yangm@bsd405.org) We compete in the USA Computing Olympiad, WA Forge Hackathon, and have lectures on various topics (including competitive programming, web development, and AI).
Psychology Club Mon - every other (3:30) 2122 G Anchondo (anchondoa@bsd405.org) Psychology Club is a welcoming space for everyone who is interested in Psychology! Join us for fun discussions, games, activities, and more! All are welcome, regardless of knowledge level. 
Red Cross Club Fri (3:30) 3118 S Nehring (nehrings@bsd405.org) The Red Cross Clubs provides volunteer opportunities and information. The club seeks to serve the community through service, education, and leadership in order to promote the values of humanity, voluntary service, and unity. We meet every Friday at 3:30.
Rocketry Club Tues and Fri (3:40 - 5:00) 3106 J Brown (brownje@bsd405.org) Newport Rocketry Club is a club open to all students interested in Rocketry and aerospace. No experience is required (everything you need to know will be taught). We have bi-weekly meetings on Tuesdays and Fridays from 3:35 PM -5:00 PM at Newport High School plus weekend launches at 60 Acres Park. Teams compete in the American Rocketry Challenge and aim to qualify for the national finals in Washington DC. Feel free to contact s-luob@bsd405.org with any questions you may have about our club!
Science Bowl Club Tues (3:40) 3115 D Calinog (calinogd@bsd405.org) Science Bowl Club provides a fun space for students to learn about various STEM topics, ranging from physics to biology. We offer trivia-style buzzer games, AP science help, and a chance to compete in the widely-recognized National Science Bowl competition. 
Speech and Debate Mon and Thurs (3:30 - 5:00) Library M Troutman (troutmanm@bsd405.org) Speech and Debate is a competitive club that refines students’ public speaking and critical thinking skills. The presentational and argumentative skills that are taught in this club are universally beneficial to all students regardless of what field they plan on going into. The team competes in and wins at numerous weekly local, state, and national tournaments across a variety of speech, debate, and acting events. Join the club if you’re looking for a team that will help you to challenge yourself to reach new heights with a supportive community!
STEM League Club Monday (first Monday of month) 3:35 3118 S Nehring (nehrings@bsd405.org) STEM League's mission is to expand STEM education by educating students through community outreach and inspiring them to pursue opportunities in STEM fields. We strive to promote STEM education towards the students of Newport and our community through interactive activities such as hands-on experiments, hearing from guest speakers in a variety of career fields, and community outreach at local libraries. Our club hopes to foster an inclusive and collaborative community where students can interact with others who share an interest and passion for STEM.
Tri-M Honor Society Wed (12:50) 1221 T Mahaffey (mahaffeyt@bsd405.org) Tri-M is a nationally recognized honors society for music students in high school. As a music honors society, Tri-M provides recognition for those who excel in music, academics, and service, promoting our music programs in the community through service. You must be enrolled in at least one semester of a music class with a minimum GPA requirement of 3.5 overall, and a 3.0 in music classes. You can apply on our Instagram bio!
Trivia Club Mon (3:30 - 4:30) 2121 N Wong-Heffter (wong-hefftern@bsd405.org) In Knowledge Bowl Club, we practice answering trivia questions in preparation for Knowledge Bowl competitions. Knowledge Bowl is an academic sport in which students try to answer questions from all different subject matters.
Ultimate Frisbee Club Tues (3:30 - 4:30) Football or Baseball Field M Heckendorn (heckendornm@bsd405.org) Ultimate Frisbee Club is a fun way to play a friendly game of pickup with your friends! All skills welcome! 
UNICEF Tues - every other (3:30 - 4:30) 2116 R Valaas (valaasr@bsd405.org) The purpose of the N.H.S. UNICEF Club is to build community and connections between Newport students while supporting UNICEF’s efforts to promote the health, safety, and welfare of children worldwide.
Writing Club Fri (3:35) 2613 A Florsheim (florsheima@bsd405.org) The Newport Writing Club is a place to foster creativity in primarily writing-based projects.  Members can be new to writing and start projects using club resources and prompts or have entire book series written which the club will help peer review and submit for competitions or potential publication.  The Newport Writing Club is a place for anyone to join regardless of writing skill level.  The club offers opportunities to submit to writing competitions or newsletters, and the ability to utilize your creative talents to volunteer for the community.  The writing club is also a place where you can share your writing to help inspire other writers and build your own confidence.  Joining this club is joining a supportive and safe community that will encourage and help improve your writing.
Yearbook Club Wednesday (12:45) Friday (3:35) 1602 S Hamada (hamadas@bsd405.org) and L Snyder-Stone (snyderstonel@bsd405.org) Yearbook club collaborates on creating a yearbook that is representative of Newport’s student body with a new conceptual and design theme each year. Members work on design, marketing, photography, writing, and sales for the book.
