BREADCRUMB

Build a successful foundation for the year; Why students should not miss first days of school

White Newport High School logo mark on red background

Don’t miss the first days of school.

A lot happens on the first day:

  • Relationships and belonging begins to build—between teachers and students plus among students;

  • Teachers share important information about expectations for the year ahead.

  • Teachers share their insights on how students can succeed in their class.

  • Teachers explain how students can best reach out for help when they need it.

Students can spend five minutes getting a sense of their new teachers before the first day. As soon as schedules are out (in the last days of summer), students can watch short videos that teachers made for last year’s Curriculum Night.
